Seven Things God Wants for You

Sometimes, we act like figuring out what God wants from us is a big mystery. We stumble around scratching our heads and looking lost.

The truth is different. God gives us guidance for living a purposeful and rest-filled life that honors him. Finding his will doesn’t take a special formula or a five-step plan.

God tells us what He wants for us in His Word.

  1. Walk in the Good Ways

Jeremiah 6:16 – “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.

2.  Abundant Life

John 10:10 – “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

3. Abide in Christ and Bear Fruit

John 15:5 – “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

4. Freedom

John 8:32 – “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

5. Joy: Full Joy

John 15:11 – “These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

6. Liberty in Christ rather than the yoke of works

Galatians 5:1: “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.

7. A Partnership with Us

Matthew 11:28-29 – “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest..Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

As you read through these scriptures, do any of these things shock or surprise you?

None of them are from obscure passages. In fact, as I read about them, I realized that I’d known these seven things all along.

But that didn’t mean that I was living them.

Now that you know what God wants for you, what are you going to do about it?
