Jesus’ Magnifying Glass

O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together

Psalm 34:3 KJV

As a child, I was stumped by verses like this that talked about magnifying God. How does a human magnify someone with God’s largess?

Then I got older. And I needed reading glasses. Did you know they are nothing but magnifying glasses?

They make that small print large enough so I can read it.

Those of us who know God—and appreciate his awesome size and power—need to be a magnifying glass for those who don’t know him.

That’s right, people who don’t know God are far-sighted when it comes to him. They don’t look at the expanse of the sky and see its smallness in comparison to the Creator. Instead, the sky stretches endlessly.

To them, the sky is large. God? Not so much. They can’t see him, so he might not even exist.

When we show the grace of Jesus to them, that enlarges their view of God. If we love people unconditionally, we show the enormity of God’s love in sacrificing his only son for them.

This is how we magnify the Lord.

So, how have you been Jesus’ magnifying glass today?

My soul doth magnify the Lord

Luke 1:46 KJV
